Real datacentres use Wi-Fi. If only there were enough channels for that to be possible. RE: VPS? - KuJoe - 05-16-2010 If only there was enough bandwidth (the limited channels can be dealt with albeit that would be an expensive data center). RE: VPS? - Jonny - 05-16-2010 I'm guessing the throughput on a WiFI datacenter would be horrible. RE: VPS? - KuJoe - 05-16-2010 Pretty much. I think they are able to reach 3Gbps in labs but that's far from stable. RE: VPS? - Kevin - 05-16-2010 Even if it did work, would that even be a safe work environment? RE: VPS? - KuJoe - 05-17-2010 Sure it would, why wouldn't it be? The only way for it to possibly work would require shielded cabinets so none of the wireless signal would escape the cabinets so the staff would be tumor free. RE: VPS? - jphilipson - 05-17-2010 Dang, that picture is almost as bad as Burstnet .. At least FDC doesn't use Linksys routers and have a leaky roof lol. RE: VPS? - Jonny - 05-17-2010 It would be safer. No cables to trip over I'd hate to manage that datacenter, is there even the functionality to set up wireless connections which run common routing protocols over them? That means that the wireless hubs would have to be right inside the cabinet. From the picture, they aren't. |
