Ever wanted to contribute to TheHostingTool but just didn't have enough time or maybe you aren't a programmer? Now, you can. We're setting up a Wiki for TheHostingTool's documentation. We're looking for people that would help contribute some How To articles and such.

If you're interested please PM me and I'll set you up! You'll also get a special forum status. It's the least we can do. Angel

  Plugin Submissions!
Posted by: Nick - 09-24-2009, 06:22 PM - Forum: News & Updates - No Replies

I have noticed that alot of people would like to make a plugin, but are hesitant for some reason. Anyway, im here to tell you that it is very easy.

Here is how you can make your very own plugin for THT:

1) Install a copy of 1.2 for development on.
2) Edit the files you want/make your plugin
3) If you need any help/get stuck with this, PM me.
4) PM me the finished plugin files so i can verify that they are secure/working.
5) After you get the go-ahead, post a thread in the plugin center with your plugin.

Writing a plugin for THT is very easy, and requires just a little knowledge of PHP. Plugins are what make a community project great, so be sure to contribute Smile

  Work has started on 1.2.1!
Posted by: Jonny - 09-13-2009, 06:44 PM - Forum: News & Updates - Replies (3)

Well, I'm here to announce that work has been started on the upcoming version of THT, 1.2.1. I have set a main purpose for this version, this is to provide extra functionality, flexibility and bug flattening to the script. This minor wont add any really new huge features but it will add many minor changes that will make THT that much simpler.

How Development is Changing
Before, prior to this version THT was developed on server, with simple file editors and testing. Now THT is using SVN to compile and develop. This means that development time can be remotely quicker, builds will be less bug free and wrong and there can be less worry that your installing the correct release. I've made some mistakes before.

So whats the new features?
Well at the minute, we're compiling lists and looking through your suggestions for things we can implement for this version. There are 2 definite features that will make it into 1.2.1. One is when the order form is completed, instead of manual login and payment, the script will log you in automatically and send you to Paypal. There will also be a complete revamped pretty ACP Packages section. This is near exact to what is seen in the nav bar editor in Look and Feel. Just for packages. This was skipped out of 1.2 due to miss of release date.

I'll be looking forward to bringing this to the community.

Thankyou,
Jonny + THT Team

  Forum is back online!
Posted by: Jonny - 09-12-2009, 02:33 PM - Forum: News & Updates - Replies (3)

TheHostingTool is back online fully having been struck down by some inconsiderate hackers.

The site wasn't breached by the script so as far as we're aware you're 100% safe into keeping with THT.

Thanks!

  VERSION 1.2 RELEASED!
Posted by: Jonny - 09-08-2009, 05:36 AM - Forum: News & Updates - Replies (17)

Today we are overjoyed to announce the release of TheHostingTool version 1.2. This release is
probably the most anticipated and major release since the creation of THT itself!

New in 1.2:

Look and Feel Center
The Look and Feel Center (LOF Center) replaces the old style chooser that was originally placed in
the Settings. There you can edit the contents of your navigation bar. Like add custom links, modify
existing ones and change the order of the links. You can also edit your CSS file as well as the header
and footer template files directly from within THT. Another function the LOF Center provides is the
option to upload a style in a zip file and have it automatically extracted into your style folder for
use.

Paid Hosting
This was the most requested (and important) feature for 1.2. The paid hosting can be used in
conjunction with your PayPal account to sell hosting on a monthly or weekly basis. It can even
support multiple currencies. The paid hosting solution is the best way to make a profit from your
webhost. If your users do not make their payment, their accounts will automatically be suspended.

XML-API
The API is still a work in progress but the base of the API shipped in 1.2 with just a few features.
This API also has yet to be fully documented on how to use it. You may be wondering how this is
gonna help or even change your THT experience. Simply put, this allows for outside applications to
interact with TheHostingTool. So, if you wanted, you could create an application that would use
this API to notify you in some fashion when a new user signs up. The possibilities can be endless.
Stay tuned for updates on this!

Suspensions (affects cPanel/WHM users only)
Before, when THT suspended users for not posting their monthly amount (p2h) it gave WHM no
suspension reason. Now it gives a reason in the following format: “Username (forumUsername):
Suspended for not posting monthly amount! (numberOfPostsMade out of requiredPosts)” Another
thing you can do that you couldn't before is suspending an account manually with a custom reason.

What kind of bugs did we squash? Thank goodness you didn't ask how many! It was too many to
count. We addressed quite a few which involved the fatal XML parser errors.

As always, we probably didn't squash every single little creepy crawler and we need your help.

Please upgrade to this new release and tell us of any bugs we missed!
Now that we have that part out of the way, let's install. First go ahead and download it. You'll
upgrade this release just like any other. Just so you know, you can only upgrade from v1.1.2, and if
you're still running an older version, you will not be able to upgrade to THT 1.2, as we don't support
cross-version upgrades. Upgrade to v1.1.2 first, or you will not be able to upgrade to 1.2.

A Message From Jonny:
I'd like to say thankyou first of all for trusting us in getting this version of THT out. It's been months since we've updated in and i'm over the moon that this is finally here, after so many hours of work. Thankyou!

  Formal Apology on 1.2 Release
Posted by: Jonny - 09-06-2009, 06:20 PM - Forum: News & Updates - Replies (2)

THT Community,

I'd like to personally apologise from me and on behalf of the team for provide you, our community with a late release off 1.2.

We was hoping to release at around 11AM GMT today (6th September) but due to final testing on the upgrader/installer it showed that it was non functional and it's a pretty hard to fix, it's because of the heavy code changes in 1.2.

I'm hoping to bring this out as fast as I can and the team can but until then. I'll give you some previews.

Again, Sorry.

  1.1.2 XML Error Patch
Posted by: Kevin - 07-20-2009, 05:59 PM - Forum: News & Updates - No Replies

Hello everyone. Some users have been experiencing some XML errors when they terminate accounts or users. Some users also experience XML errors at other times. I have released a patch for you to use AT YOUR OWN RISK. We [TheHostingTool Development Team] will take NO responsibility if this patch causes any damage. If you are NOT experiencing any errors like previously mentioned then there is no reason to patch. You can ignore this message.

Here's how to patch your install.

  1. Backup your old whm.php file. (includes/servers/whm.php)
  2. Download your backup to your computer and then delete the old whm.php file on your server.
  3. Upload the new whm.php file that is provided as an attachment in this post.
  4. You're patched. To make sure this patch doesn't give you any (more) trouble try signing up and trying to replicate your previous errors. If they don't occur then the patch has worked!
  5. If it worse then before delete the new whm.php file and upload your backup.
Please give us your feedback! Smile
